Embark on a Unique Rome Truffle Hunting Experience!
Join us for an authentic and immersive truffle hunting adventure just outside Rome, designed for nature lovers, food enthusiasts, and anyone curious to discover one of Italy’s most fascinating traditions.
For approximately two hours, you’ll escape the city’s hustle and step into a peaceful natural setting surrounded by greenery. Accompanied by an expert truffle hunter and a trained truffle dog, you’ll watch firsthand how these remarkable dogs work in perfect harmony with nature to uncover hidden truffles beneath the forest floor.
Depending on the season, we will walk through different types of woodland, exploring unspoiled areas and scenic landscapes rarely visited by tourists. Along the way, you’ll learn about the truffle life cycle, the characteristics of the terrain, seasonal varieties, and the techniques used to find these prized delicacies.
By the end of the experience, you won’t just have observed a truffle hunt — you’ll have gained a true understanding of the world of truffles, making this a memorable and educational experience close to Rome.
What is included
- After a nice welcome coffee, we will give you a brief introduction on the world of truffles. We will provide you a welcome bag, with truffle hunting tools and we will then leave to go into the woods!
- With the help of the expert dogs, we will arrive to the forest where we will start hunting for truffles.
- Don’t forget to thank and say goodbye the protagonists of the day, the dogs!

We had a wonderful experience learning all about truffles. Our guide Stefano was awesome, really knowledgeable as well as fun to talk to and an all around nice guy. He took us out to the forest where the star of the show, his truffle dog Lora took over. She ran around and locates lots of truffles for us, and it was awesome to see her work. After we had collected our truffles, Stefano took us to a restuarant, which made a great lunch, highlighting the truffles we found. Overall, it was a great day and a unique and wonderful experience for us. Highly recommend.

Our family went on a truffle hunt on 9 January and had such a fun and memorable experience! We learned a lot about truffles, how to search for them in a real forest setting, and also about Italian food culture, which made the experience even more meaningful. The host and his family were extremely friendly and made us feel completely welcome. The dogs were incredibly friendly, clever, and very well trained , it was amazing to watch them work. We managed to find about 200g of truffles in just 1.5 hours! After the hunt, we were hosted at the family’s home, where we enjoyed a lovely lunch and great conversations. The truffle bruschetta served as a starter was delicious and a perfect way to begin the meal. Highly recommended for families and anyone curious about truffles and Italian cuisine!

Being used to pick mushrooms in Denmark this experience with Federico was really different and exciting. Usually we walk and look for the mushrooms, but here it was the two fantastic dogs, Sally and Arco/Argo who did all the hard work. And they found quite a lot of truffles. Even deep down under a stone. Back at the farmhouse we had the most delicious lunch, off course with our own truffles. We will gladly recommend this experience to everybody. Ciao Peter and Charlotte

This was such an amazing experience with Federico, Argo, and Rex! The dogs are so sweet, cute, and talented, and Federico is so passionate about the dogs and truffles. We learned so much, found a TON of truffles, had fun, AND an amazing meal! What more could you ask for?? This was one of the highlights of our three week trip across central Italy, which is really a testament to Federico’s hospitality. For those wondering about booking, we found that regular tennis shoes and long socks worked very well for the trek – hiking boots might be best, but they are not essential if that is giving you pause

We fell in love with Argo, the canine truffle hunting expert, and Sally, Federico’s eight-month old puppy who tries so hard to find truffles, but is easily distracted (and adorable).
