Market Tour & Seasonal Cooking Class – From Market to Table
Discover the essence of Basque cuisine with our Market Tour & Seasonal Cooking Class.
What makes Basque cuisine so special are the ingredients we use. In this unique experience, we’ll take you on a tour of the local market, with a special focus on seasonal products. Our markets are full of fresh, local products, and we love showing you how to select them to create dishes full of flavor and authenticity.
Once back at our cooking school—the best-equipped in San Sebastián—you’ll prepare dishes using the highest quality seasonal products. This class is ideal for understanding the tradition of Basque cuisine, which is essential for mastering more modern techniques. And because the nature of seasonal products changes so much, every class is different, allowing you to repeat this experience many times without it ever being the same.
The menu changes with the seasons to make the most of the fresh ingredients available. Here’s a sample menu you might cook:
- Mushrooms
- Seasonal vegetables
- Kokotxas (Hake jowl) and clams in green sauce
- Lamb
- Cheese board
If there’s one class that embodies sustainability and respect for the product, it’s this one. Our school is deeply committed to sustainability, using ingredients from small local suppliers and ensuring every dish respects the authentic flavors of the Basque Country. Our cooking school, recognized by National Geographic as one of the best in the world, features the most modern and well-equipped kitchen in San Sebastián. It’s the best way to enhance your vacation, allowing you to bring home recipes you can recreate, keeping the memory of your time in Spain alive.
